Inspiration: Day One

So, for starters - My name is Lindsey, I am twenty years old and an aspiring 'foodie'. I have no culinary training or experience. The only 'experience' I do have is some basic deep-frying and flat top grilling at a country club snack bar. I have always been a devoted viewer of the Food Network Channel. This basically means I have watched this show almost daily since I was about ten years old! Now that I am approaching the age of 21, I think to myself, why don't I attempt to create my own concoctions of deliciousness. So here I am on a journey to not only cook tasty and simple dishes but to also keep everything fresh, local, and good for the soul.

I am going to start off with homemade lasagna with a little inspiration from an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives. I was watching Triple D last night when the owner/chef at Schellville Grill, Matthew Nagan, put together several individual servings of completely made from scratch lasagna. At first glance, Matthew Nagan and Guy Fieri made this dish seem fairly simple to make. As they put together multiple layers of the fresh homemade pasta, creamy bechamel sauce, a meaty ragu, and last but not least, the grilled slices of eggplant and other assorted vegetables, my mouth would not stop watering. So tomorrow, after a trip to the local market, I will find out for myself if I will be able to make my own spin on this classic but not so classic Italian favorite!

To find out more about the Schellville Grill, take a look at the restaurant's menu and website.
